Athens, GA- The UGA program is in a position they haven't been in since 1981. The Bulldogs are coming off their 1st National Championship since 1980. Georgia is ranked #3 in the preseason coaches & AP poll. UGA loses a lot from the 2021 squad, 15 overall NFL draft picks including 5 drafted in the 1st Round.
In years past, Fans and media experts would expect a step back from national prominence after such a departure.
Fear Not!
Talent is plenty in Athens, but there is a lot of youth as well. The Offense looks to be the strength of the team in the preseason with what all is returning. The defensive side of the ball is young, but has a some upperclassmen in key positions to help balance out the inexperience. The young Dawgs will need to grow up quick as they have a tough season opener versus former defensive coordinator Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks. The schedule is very manageable and could possibly hurt the Bulldogs if it comes down to comparisons at the end of the year.
