Even Kirby Smart is Wondering who this Standout is...

Not all top programs can afford to lose 3 year starter like Middle Linebacker Monty Rice. May Georgia isn't one of those programs. There's been a buzz all offseason regarding No. 10...

"Who made that play", Who's No. 10 again?" "Is that 10 again?"

Jamon Dumas-Johnson came in as the #194 player in the 2021 class. Dumas-Johnson from Maryland did not play his senior season due his High School canceling the season due to Covid-19. He never wavered from his commitment.

Inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann went hard after the inside linebacker and landed his commitment in July 2020. Dumas-Johnson never wavered in his pledge to UGA and inked on the dotted line on the first day of the early signing period.

Coach Schumann and the Dawgs sure are glad. Dumas-Johnson has been a bright spot this spring and is looking to earn some time when the season starts. Below are some comments from Coach Smart after the teams 1st scrimmage:

"Jamon Dumas-Johnson made a great play on a pick. He has flashed in camp. You know this kid did not play his senior year, they canceled football and he didn’t get to play. I keep watching him, and I’m like man who is No. 10. Man who is that. He flashes and makes plays."

So whats the outlook for the incoming freshman?

Dumas-Johnson has the chops to come in and help right away on special teams. He could see time on defense in Mop up duty though. The Bulldogs are deep and experienced at inside linebacker, so much so that there are third-year players fighting and uphill battle to get on the field. There's a very good chance that he avoids a redshirt because he'll help on special teams and his breakout spring hasn't hurt!
