Georgia adds George Mason Transfer Justin Kier

The Georgia basketball team landed a commitment from George Mason guard Justin Kier on Sunday. Kier is immediately eligible for the Bulldogs for the 2020-21 season.

Kier, listed at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, picked the Bulldogs over the likes of Minnesota and NC State. He announced his decision on Instagram on Sunday afternoon.

Kier was limited last season to just nine games with a foot injury. When healthy as a junior, Kier averaged 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game for the George Mason Patriots. Kier averaged 9.6 points per game last season while shooting 45.8 percent from 3-point range.

This is the second season in a row the Bulldogs have brought in a graduate transfer, as Donnell Gresham played for the Bulldogs last season after transferring from Northeastern.

The Bulldogs will have to replace three guards in addition to Gresham, as Tyree Crump and Jordan Harris exhausted their eligibility, while Anthony Edwards declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. Forward Rayshaun Hammonds also declared for the draft but he has not yet signed with an agent, meaning he can return to school should he choose to do so.

Georgia’s 2020 basketball recruiting has another four commitments, led by 4-star guard K.D. Johnson and 4-star forward Josh Taylor.

The Bulldogs went 16-16 this season and went 5-13 in SEC in Tom Crean’s second season as head coach.
