Georgia Picked as Favorite to Win SEC




NASHVILLE, TN — Georgia looks to be a runaway favorite in the media’s predicted order of finish for the SEC this year. The Bulldogs totaled 2,011 points from voters to win the East division and 181 votes to repeat as conference champs.


The Georgia Bulldogs have not won the SEC in consecutive seasons since 1981-82.

Georgia received far and away the most points in the East. The order behind Georgia for the East Division was:

Tennessee (1,682)

South Carolina (1,254)

Kentucky (1,204)

Florida (911)

Missouri (658)

Vanderbilt (428)



Georgia received 265 first-place votes for the East division. Tennessee had 14, Vanderbilt had 8, South Carolina had 3, Kentucky had 1.



As for the West, Alabama was chosen as the team most likely to face Georgia in the SEC title game. The Crimson Tide earned 1,899 votes — the order behind Alabama for the West Division is as follows:

Georgia opens the season in Sanford Stadium at night against Tennessee-Martin. The first SEC game of the year is two weeks later when South Carolina comes to Athens, A Game that will be televised on CBS.
