ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog senior place-kicker Jack Podlesny has been named the Southeastern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance versus Kent State, according to an announcement Monday.

Podlesny, a native of St. Simons Island, Ga., is earning the award for the first time in his career. In fact, he is the first Georgia player to garner the Special Teams accolade since punter Jake Camarda did it twice in 2020.

This marks the Bulldogs’ third SEC weekly award this season. Following the win over No. 11 Oregon, senior safety Christopher Smith was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week. Then, sophomore tight end Brock Bowers was named the Offensive Player of the Week following Georgia’s victory at South Carolina.

Podlesny drilled all three of his field goals and four PATs during Georgia’s 39-22 win over the Golden Flashes. He helped distance the Bulldogs from Kent State to go up by nine points with a 39 yarder in the first quarter and then helped lock down the victory with another pair of field goals in the third quarter.

Georgia (4-0, 1-0 SEC) travels to Columbia, Mo., to face Missouri (2-2, 0-1 SEC) on Saturday. SEC Network will televise the game and kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
