After earning a spot as one of the Stars of the Week following Georgia’s victory over Tennessee in 2020, Bennett was also named the award’s Quarterback of the Week. In addition, Bennett was included as one of the Stars of the Week after the Bulldogs’ 45-0 win over Georgia Tech last year.
Bennett, a native of Blackshear, Ga., went 16 of 23 for 284 yards and two touchdowns during top-ranked Georgia’s 48-7 rout at South Carolina. Also rushing for a touchdown against the Gamecocks, Bennett is the first quarterback to open a season with three straight games of 250 or more passing yards plus a rushing touchdown in each game. He joins Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel as the only three SEC players since 2004 to have at least three consecutive games with 250 passing yards and one rushing score.
Georgia (3-0, 1-0 SEC) plays host to Kent State (1-2, 0-0 MAC)) in Athens on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and the SEC Network+/ESPN+ will stream the matchup.
