ATHENS, Ga. --- Bulldog senior Stetson Bennett is one of eight quarterbacks to be named Manning Award Stars of the Week, according to an announcement Monday.

Bennett has also been named the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 list for his showing against South Carolina over the weekend. This marks the second time this season that Bennett has been included on the Manning Award and Davey O’Brien lists after also earning the honors following the victory over No. 11 Oregon. Bennett was later named the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week for his performance.

After earning a spot as one of the Stars of the Week following Georgia’s victory over Tennessee in 2020, Bennett was also named the award’s Quarterback of the Week. In addition, Bennett was included as one of the Stars of the Week after the Bulldogs’ 45-0 win over Georgia Tech last year.

Bennett, a native of Blackshear, Ga., went 16 of 23 for 284 yards and two touchdowns during top-ranked Georgia’s 48-7 rout at South Carolina. Also rushing for a touchdown against the Gamecocks, Bennett is the first quarterback to open a season with three straight games of 250 or more passing yards plus a rushing touchdown in each game. He joins Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel as the only three SEC players since 2004 to have at least three consecutive games with 250 passing yards and one rushing score.

Georgia (3-0, 1-0 SEC) plays host to Kent State (1-2, 0-0 MAC)) in Athens on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. and the SEC Network+/ESPN+ will stream the matchup.
