Guard Kario Oquendo Expected to Enter Transfer Portal

Athens, GA- According to multiple reports, Georgia Guard Kario Oquendo is expected to enter the transfer portal. Oquendo will be a junior during the 2022-23 season.

UGASports.com’s Anthony Dasher was the first to report Oquendo’s likely departure.

A transfer from Florida SouthWestern State, Oquendo was one of the bright spots in during Georgia's 6-21 season. He led Georgia with 15.2 points per game, 2nd in Rebounds, and he also had a team-leading 14 blocks.

New Head Coach Mike White New it was possible to lose some players from last season's team.

“First and foremost, before you even get a chance to make your staff evaluations, you've got to get a staff, right? And then when you do that, we've got to figure out what these guys want, you know? Who knows what the aspirations are with some of these guys,” White said. “If there's a player that doesn't necessarily want to be here or has got one foot out the door, you want them to pursue what's best for them, what's in their best interest. It's that simple.”

Oquendo would become the second Georgia player to enter the transfer portal this week. As Forward Dalen Ridgnal entered his name into the portal on Monday.
