Our Thoughts After Watching G-Day...

The 2019-2020 Season is an interesting one for the Bulldogs. No more so-called QB Controversy, Gone are 4 underclassmen that declared for the NFL Draft, and another top recruiting class hits campus to add depth across the board. Sometimes its addition by subtraction. But there are a few key spots and positions the Bulldogs will need to sure up if they are going to gear up for another national championship run!

After Watching the Bulldogs compete in their final Spring Scrimmage on Saturday, Here are some of our thoughts and notes we took during the game.

* Stetson Bennett is a player... We heard comments during the 2018 Rose Bowl practices but he showed he has the arm and has play-making ability.

*Eric Stokes has come a LONG WAY since joining the Bulldogs. He now is showing he is competing if not THE Starter at DB for the Bulldogs.

*The Hype is Real: Nakobe Dean and Nolan Smith are the real deal. Smith had battles all afternoon against Isiah Wilson while Nakobe Dean made plays and found his way into the backfield a lot during his time.

*JJ Holloman is no doubt the #1 WR for the Bulldogs. Fromm got in trouble in the 1st Qtr by staring him down a bit and Eric Stokes ripped the ball away from Holloman for a INT for TD. But Fromm trusts Holloman and look for the targets to continue this fall.

*Spring Scrimmage means a lot of swing passes to the running backs in the flats. D'Andre Swift caught several passes and made defenders miss in space. Swift looks healthy and ready for a big fall.

*Speaking of passes out of the backfield, Brian Herrien took a check down pass 13 yards for the score. Herrien is taking on a leadership roll and has been a nice contributor this spring. He'll get more looks and touches this fall but with the return of Zamir White, just how many will he get???

*BREAKING NEWS: UGA Found its Tight Ends!!! The tight ends caught 14 of the 43 completions in the game... Charlie Woerner and John Fitzpatrick had 5 catches a piece.

*D'wan Mathis looks to have talent but We're not sure he's ready for the SEC schedule. A year behind Jake Fromm to study and lift will do wonders for him. The trick play whee he caught a 39 yard touchdown shows his athleticism and he had nice touch on a deep ball to Matt Landers that got broken up at the last minute...

*We mentioned stokes before, but UGA's recruiting of defensive backs and safety's showed in this game. Newcomer Lewis Cine looks to be a thumper in a very similar mold to Richard Lecounte. Both had good games. Tyrique Stevenson and Tyson Campebell both had nice games and will battle all season for playing time.
